So I noticed that my previous blog post didn't post. I was just about to post it when I noticed none of the pictures I painstakingly put on it were still attached. Bummer. I shall have to get on it. It's pathetic that it took me a month to figure that out though. April flew by. I wish I had an good excuse for why I haven't blogged. But I really don't. I can't even remember what we've done this past month, though I'm sure it has been a lot. J never ceases to not let us be busy. One of my favorite verses growing up was Psalms 46:10... "Cease striving and know that I am God". Another translation is to "be still..." Hopefully one day we can take that to heart, though every now and again I get into a rut where I feel like it is pointless to strive, because in the end it is all meaningless anyways- as the writer of Proverbs wrote- and develop a terrible lackadaisical attitude. Or I take on the mindset of the Thessalonians and think the end of the world is at hand "so why bother", and then I have to give my rear end a good kick (or two) and remind myself that while we are supposed to be ready, we are to make the most of the "talents" we have been given, including our days.
Anyhow, I digress. It has allowed me to remember that we did have company over. Jon and Beth Ringger. And before that was Easter in Phoenix (which seems so long ago). Last weekend we were in Chicago with our pseudo-parents, the Eisenmanns, for my birthday.... er, I mean the AC Medical Fellowship conference. I can't believe I had forgotten all of that. It must be because those VOCs are getting to my head (or 'cuz I'm sick- which I could blame on the VOCs, if it wasn't that J and I have kinda passed colds back and forth to each other all month-- a negative result that comes with his FP rotation). J's parents were over Mon and Tuesday, and by golly, my whole house is painted. After they left, J went on a rampage (and I guess I did too during the day), and we have begun to tackle the jungle that is formally named our backyard. Stan showed me what Michigan weeds look like.We also started our first garden. And I've begun to tear out the wallpaper in the dining room... only to discover there is more underneath. We have a new animal friend. J doesn't like him though, and immediately bought a mole trap. We sorta kinda celebrated L's first birthday too, when J's parents were here, because they asked. It was all really pathetic though- that story is sure to come when I post pics... but at least I can show him pictures when he's older, just in case J's schedule doesn't allow for a more eventful birthday "party".
So yup. That is my April in a nutshell. I guess another reason why I haven't posted is because I've not been around my computer. That is because the weather has been warmer. I just looked at the 10 day forecast. I think I can officially say that I survived my first winter here in Michigan (I state this, because in not one of those days, is it supposed to drop under 60 degrees). It makes me laugh though when I think spring has finally arrived with the arrival of May.
Sorry there aren't pictures to go with this post. Maybe I'll put one up later, after I transfer all my pics from my camera. I mostly just wrote it so that I would have a post during the month of April.
