Confession Time

First, I wanted to make a shout out to Trader Joe's... once again. It's not that I mean to be a virtual advertisement for them... it's just that they never cease to delight me with their goods- except their avocados. Lately (as in the last 3 bunches), they have ripened really strangely aka not well at all. I've ended up having to waste at least a 1/3 of the avocado each time. That Costco membership is really starting to call my name...

But back to Trader Joe's. I always buy my husband their quart of soy ice cream because of his lactose digesting issues. At $3.29/qt, it is impossible to beat. At least out here.

So I went to grab him more vanilla (your current choices are vanilla and cherry chocolate chip, as they've presently done away with mango and chocolate), and right next to it I saw... coconut milk ice cream.

They haven't had those since the mochi ones that are still somewhat stocked up in our freezer (when the TJ employee told me they met their demise, I bought the rest of the stock- 8- for my depressed husband).

But I think he will be excited about these.

It comes in strawberry and chocolate. And it's only $3.49/pt.

Yes, that is quite a bit compared to the delicious ice cream half-gallons I treat myself to... but it is ridiculously cheap compared to the $5.99 that all other grocery stores sell them for...

However I want to justify it, right?!

And until I decide to try Jamie's recipe, it'll do.

Now, a bit of a confession. I was buying salmon and walked down the soup aisle at the grocery store and saw those "maruchan instant lunch" cup of noodle soups... you know, the one's with 47% of your daily sodium intake in one serving.

Yeah, those ones.

Well, they were on sale. (Technically,  the limon flavor wasn't, as I only see those in the southwest. But the shrimp flavor was).

And I'm a former addict.

And I bought one. four.

Yikes.

And a part of me wants to point fingers at my previous hispanic coworkers who taught me to love the shrimp with lime ones, add additional lime and chili sauce to the point that you have to drink a glass of milk after every couple of spoonfuls. But really, I didn't have to go along with it.

I knew back then that I had to stop the addiction when customers would bring me them to me as presents.

And I did overcome. For a few years...

But nostalgia got the best of me. And I bought them. And lets just say that dinner better be low-sodium tonight. :)
