Two Months

This post was supposed to go out Saturday while we were up in Bay City. For some reason it didn't. Oh well...

My little boy is two months old today :)

He still is much of the same, but a lot more smiley, talkative and giggly (especially, and unfortunately, from the hours of 10pm to midnight)! His smile still continues to melt this Mama's heart though, and he has continued to be so very happy as long as I spend a little bit of time with him every few hours! He's usually very patient with me ignoring him to tend to his brother, unless he has to burp (which is still quite often). He still spits up, and quite a bit more then Liam did, but I'm not willing to change my diet just yet, since it's not too aggravating and he always does it with a smile on his face!

Have I mentioned that he smiles?! Yup, that is pretty much what he does all day long while he is awake! His two favorite things to smile at are anyone willing to talk to him... and the fan. Yeah, I'm not sure why he likes the fan, but I just pop him underneath it and he gets the biggest grin and starts giggling.

He still loves his brother, though every now and then, when he hears his brothers voice approaching, he will tense up- it's like he knows the football tackle kiss is coming! If Liam is too smothering with his love, Aiden will definitely let his big brother know (in the form of huffing before he starts wailing), and Liam is usually quick to get off.

He still isn't quite the sleeper his brother was at this age, but is pretty consistent of giving me 4-6 hours of sleep (my first 6 hour stretch came exactly at 8 wks!) each night, before waking up for a quick nursing session, and then sleeping for another 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. And then he likes to be awake for the next couple hours... whether that is at 6am (which his Mommy isn't too thrilled about) or at 9am.

Here's his stats for 2 months...
Weight: 11 lbs, 4 oz (25%)
Height: 59 cm (60%)
Head Circ: 15 1/4in

VBS, Grandparents and the Blue Angels

Last week, Detroit had VBS. We had about 70 kids attend this year... what a blessing! I helped out in the "nursery" this year (aka the foyer fenced off with tons of toys thrown in) along with many other mothers that had infant children... and we just pretty much watched our own kids. Liam of course had a blast with all his friends, and was confused come Sunday when we went to church but there was no toys!

The theme verse this year was John 15:1-2. To tie in with the "bearing much fruit", the children learned about the fruit of the Spirit. On Friday, instead of doing a craft, they packaged health kits and went to a soup kitchen. They also received a talk from my FIL who happens to be the head of World Relief... so guess who got to come and visit their grandchildren for a few days?!

Not only was Liam loving this, but the day before, Natalie and Coty came up for a little visit too, since they didn't get to go to Phoenix with the rest of their family. Liam and Coty absolutely loved running around together, and they got along without ever arguing (except over the need to share a book/toy or two). It was so fun watching the two interact, because their personalities are so similar!

(Unfortunately most of this weekend, I didn't have my camera nearby...)

I think the highlight of their trip was when Grandpa took Liam down to Canton to the airshow. All this week, Liam has not been able to stop talking about the "blue angels". :)

Grandma was lamenting to me in an email how she wished she had a video of him talking about the blue angels. This definitely hasn't been one of his most enthused renditions, but it will suffice...

Liam's First Bible Verse

So I figured if he can memorize songs, numbers, shapes, letters and colors, surely he can memorize Bible verses too, right?! Not knowing which verse to start with, but wanting one with meaning, I decided to go with the one I had read during devotions (I Chronicles 16:34). I figured it was a good place to start, since this same verse is repeated many times throughout Scripture. We would practice after meals (when this Mommy would remember) for two weeks. :)

Singing with Daddy...

... the result of my husband coming in to "help" change a diaper when my son is using the broom as a microphone (not sure where he got that idea... the benefit dinner maybe?!)...

I love this boy! :)

Well, truth be told I love all my boys... but when he's not throwing up curdled milk all over me, as he does about once a day (at least), or staying up until 3am and wanting me to talk to him during that period (as he did last night)... well, even with all that, his smiles, laughter and baby talk still delights this Mama's heart!

This video is all together too long I'm sure, and really there is no action involved, but so that our families can see this wee one growing up, I've put it up on the blog. You don't have to watch the whole thing though... it's not like he's going to be talking full sentences at the end or anything :)

When he grows up, Liam wants to be...

... a landscape worker.

I'm not kidding.

I think one of the favorite parts of Liam's week is when the "Just One Landscaping" truck pulls into our neighborhood and he starts mowing our neighbors lawn each Thursday. Apparently he wasn't the only one impressed. Last year the guy (I met him but can't remember his name) mowed just our neighbors yard. This year he does at least 5 houses in the neighborhood. Maybe when we go to Tampa, he will do ours. :)

Anyways, he is Liam's hero.

I'm not joking.

We will stop whatever activity we are doing to watch him mow the yard next door. As soon as he hears the equipment start up, he tells me "shoes" and he rushes off to get them so we can go outside and watch. The golf set he once was so proud of (because his daddy has one) has now become a lawnmower (golf club bag), a leaf blower (driver), a weed whacker (wedge), and most likely an edger (putter)- which my dad taught him when he was out here. The other three have been in his vocabulary all summer long.

How much does he love these landscaping equipment?! Well, we were on our way to visit Joel at the hospital for dinner one evening when Joel called to let me know he had just got paged to the ER. It would probably be at least 45min before we could spend time together. Rather then entertaining Liam at the hospital, I figured I'd head to Walmart to do a quick shopping trip. I still had time to kill, but it went by fairly quickly (for him anyways), because we literally walked up and down the lawnmower/weed whacker aisle for 20min. And he was loving it.

I told the yard worker that he was my son's hero. He said he figured as much when my MIL would take Liam around the block and Liam would always get the hugest smile on his face whenever Liam saw him. Now he calls Liam out by name and waves to him each time he goes up and down the yard. He'll talk to Liam for a few minutes each time about random things like airplanes, family and the weather. He asked Liam if he had a bubble lawnmower. Liam didn't even KNOW bubble lawnmowers existed. But after that, he kept talking about them. Luckily for him, I had a buybuybaby coupon and had already figured I'd put it towards one so he would no longer have to roll the golf bag around- not that I want to curb his imagination :)

A Future Skater

Not sure where he came up with this one. I don't think we will be visiting the skate parks (so his dad can marvel at his future patients while muttering that they are dumb) this summer... because his son might turn into one!

A few Videos of our "4th" Festivities

They aren't anything big, but they are for my family... these are the ones that Liam wanted to watch over and over, so I figured you guys might enjoy watching Liam in action to go with the pics ;)

The 4th Festivities

Joel is on call today and is so busy that he most likely won't be home til late, but it didn't mean that we weren't going to participate in celebrating Independence Day at all!

Saturday we headed up to a resident's home for a fun little cookout, followed by fireworks over Wolverine Lake. Liam learned how to roast hotdogs and marshmallows over the
fire, tried his first s'more, and thoroughly enjoyed watching round two of fireworks (round one was Friday night, after the Tigers game). Aiden was awake most of the evening, but didn't get scared from the loud noises of the town's fireworks (or the even louder noises from the neighbors shooting theirs off...).

Making a s'more for Mommy

 Liam: "more please"
Mommy: "s'more of what?"
Liam: "s'more!!"

This proud new daddy already has skills!
Aiden was awake the whole time I had him, and when Matt took him so I could eat a piece of his wife's cake, he fell right asleep!

Then on Sunday, after a wonderful day at church, we headed back to Lake Columbia to enjoy the evening at the Hitz's lake house. It was funny to think just a month before, I was fully pregnant and was going to deliver the following morning! I was still able to relax though, as Kristen and Len took turns holding Aiden, and all of the Hitz family entertained Liam. Liam was able to go on his first jetski ride, played with bubbles and water balloons with Kristen, learned how to ride a bike (finally!) from Len, and of course played all afternoon and evening with his newest favorite friend, Tommie. Tommie took him in the lake, played ball with him, shared his ice cream, read books and entertained him all night long. Let's just say that all day long today, Liam has only been talking about Tommie (with a few mentions of riding on the jetski with Daddy and Len teaching him how to ride a bike). The Hitz's once again produced a fabulous dinner, and Liam and I stood out on the dock and watched round three of fireworks, until the mosquitoes started eating us alive :)

I'm so thankful for the wonderful family and friends God has given us, as well as the freedom to have fun and enjoy all that He has created (and given us the ability to create!). May we remember this freedom everyday... not only the freedom to worship and live in a free country, but also the freedom we have in Christ!
