Only on a Monday

So I remember some people blogging about "not me Mondays". I thought I would have a small try of it, since I'm finally sitting down by myself for a couple minutes, before I'm off to finally be productive for the first time today!

I did not wake up at 7am this morning and freak out when I saw the clock, because I thought my husband was late to work- only to see that he was already gone; I hadn't heard his alarm clock... again. I did not wake up multiple times during the night with my second child... again. I did not jiggle a toy in front of my baby, while reading my Bible and doing my devotions this morning in order to keep him happy. I did not try once again to exercise on the bike uninterrupted, and did not fail at succeeding... again. I did not snag a chocolate chip cookie this morning for a pre-breakfast snack to try to rejuvenate my morning.

I did not decide to put my baby down for a nap after breakfast this morning, because he was making tired protests, leaving my toddler, for a couple of minutes. After placing my baby in the pack and play, my toddler did not start crying as he walked up the stairs asking me to hold him. I did not hold him and ask him what had happened. He did not tell me that he had put yucky bubbles in his mouth. I did not smell his breath to see if I could pinpoint the odor, and then feel his shirt to see if he had been playing at the sink. Since his shirt was dry, I did not have him take me downstairs to see what bubbles he had put in his mouth. I did not then find that he had climbed on the kitchen counter, grabbed a bottle of resolve spot cleaner that I had used the previous day and "cleaned" spots of his own on the carpet, couch, the baby's burp rag... oh, and his mouth. I did not freak out and page my husband, finding out later that I forgot to even type in my full telephone number. I did not call the poison control center, and give them my name (meaning I'll probably be reported to CPS later... sigh). My husband did not have a medical student call back since he was scrubbed in a case, and thus I had to relay what had happened to the whole surgical team present. I did not freak out when I turned around and Liam had playfully puffed up his cheeks- and I did not think that maybe he was having a reaction. I did not try to bribe my son, who normally will drink juice real quick, with jelly beans in order for him to drink a sippy cup full of juice (as the poison control rep had said). And then again with a second.

I did not decide to postpone his nap to watch for reactions. I did not then decide to have a dvd babysit my son, so that I could guarantee he didn't act up and contribute any possible coughing to the chemicals ingested versus him just running around. I did not sit down next to him and work on our budget, while he watched his video. He did not hand me the phone and ask me to call his Nana while we sat there. I did not do it for him, thinking that phones were better then movies anyways. I then did not  10 min later, hear a knock on the door while we sat together. I did not look out the window to see two police officers in my yard. I did not tell my mom we had to go, and then bolt downstairs with the baby in hand. The police officer did not tell me someone from our house had called 911 5 minutes before. I did not stand there dumb-founded and speechless, because my son had been talking to my mother next to me. The officers did not ask me for my name (he'll probably call CPS on me), look at me sympathetically and wish me a good day before leaving. I did not turn around, lock the door, tell Liam phones were off limits, then head upstairs to put him down for a nap. I did not then look down at my shirt to see a long line of white spit-up going down like a skunk stripe. It did not occur to me that no wonder the officer looked at me sympathetically- I was definitely a real sight to see! I did not then spend the next amount of time on the phone with my mom, trying to work out tickets for Christmas, only to get locked out of my husband's account because I didn't know his first car's color (apparently we aren't as close as I thought!)

Sigh. With morning's this great, it makes me wonder what I have to look forward to the rest of the week ;)

At least I know that people are praying for me... a friend sent me an email today saying I was on her mind today and she had felt opposition, so was praying for me. It just makes me wonder what things were prevented (besides possible side effects to my son's health!) through her prayers. God is good... and thankfully His mercies are new every morning :)

Just consider yourself prayed for some more! Lady! You did NOT have a good start to the morning, in case you thought otherwise :) Sounds like we should have gotten together to make doughnuts and then NOT eat them all.

Oh Amber...darling...tomorrow has to be better than that, it just has to be. Keep your chin up-which I know you will. You're a fantastic mama. CPS hasn't taken my kids yet...I think you're safe ;)
