Marshmallow Fly n Fry
catchy, ain't it? It's worth mentioning just to get your 3 year old to try to say it. Almost like a tongue twister. :)
Anyways, combination of being out of town or having babies has meant that we've missed this happenin' event in previous years.
Until now.
Today, my only decision was whether to walk or drive. Lazily, I chose the latter, though I probably would have got there faster walking, by the time I loaded the boys, parked far away (apparently it's a big deal), unloaded them from the car and into the stroller, and strenuously hiked (and almost was run over by my stroller) up the amphitheatre hill's wet grass in flipflops, because as I mentioned earlier... I'm lazy.
What is a "Marshmallow Fly n Fry", you ask?
Well...
you see...
the park starts out with this cool ladder fire truck...
complete with firemen...
who let you drive their fire truck...
even if you are a bit under age...
shoot, they even let you double up!!
or sit in the back with some of the gear...
and even let you try out their helmets...
and other gear- if it fits and you are willing...
(they also are friendly and talkative, like another man we know)...
So then, these firemen attach a big bag to their ladder...
and climb way way way up high...
and proceed to rain marshmallows over the crowd below (over 1,000 marshmallows)...
and they have such a great view, they can see when timid boys hang around strollers and throw some specifically to them, to the point that even little one's strapped in get a marshmallow...
So, what do we do with these sugary white surprises??
- Well, you could eat them...
- Roast them...
- Or turn them in for prizes (1/prize)
And after all that fun is over, well, then you can go to a tent and for a $1/ticket, there are a whole lot of other fun things, like a bounce house that intimidates our 3 year old, or a smores kit, or a hotdog (already cooked or to roast yourself), or drinks...
And to top it all off, there is a shaved ice truck just across the field...
We won't mention how Daddy is a sucker for shaved ice and lots of sugary syrup...
But of course, the best reason to come is to hang out with other lonesome resident wives- some of who were surprised by husbands (yippee for us this time!!) who were able to join them... and have some fun too! :)
Was it something I'd do again? Most likely. Proximity being a major plus, and not too expensive of an outing. A bit cheesy and overly advertised, but Liam had fun. Even Aiden had a grand time in the fire truck. :)

Adorable blog post, Amber. It made me smile.
Love your storytelling!!
Thanks again for sharing the information of said event. Our little man LOVED the firetruck so much!! I thought everything else was a bit overrated but fun to experience nonetheless!
