Hope you all had a blessed Easter though! Ours was beautiful right from the start. Saturday we got to celebrate the weekend as a family- it was one of the first of a few weekends Joel will have off this month, as he switched his schedule around to accommodate our little one that has yet to make an appearance! We took advantage of the warm (mid 50s) day and walked down to the park. Liam wanted a "date" with his Daddy, so I played on the playground with Aiden while they played ball in the fields, until they came back to join us. We made the Resurrection rolls, which Liam loved (and I loved that he was able to tell his Daddy what we did later that evening and knew the symbolism behind it). On Sunday morning, we "slept in", and then my son asked for blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Though Joel usually takes us out (to the hospital- it's free!) Sunday mornings, I thought pancakes were feasible, and a celebratory way to mark the lovely day. While I made them, Liam and Aiden snacked on the Resurrection ("Tomb") Rolls that we made the day before, while dancing to some music-- Daddy convinced Liam that Easter is so special, God wants us to listen to something else besides Patch the Pirate... ;)
Watching two little boys dancing with delight is a blessing in itself :)
Then it was off to church for the day, followed by a visitation at the funeral home for a dear church friend, and then a stop over at the hospital to visit Uncle Len. A quick change at home and we were off to Micah and Jodi's home for Easter dinner and some fun with their children!
On a side note, Liam brought a smile to our faces when we arrived for the visitation. I think this is the first time that he would have truly understood what was going on when we went to a funeral home, and since he knew Jeannie, I was trying to explain in the drive over that we were going to visit Pat, because his wife was up in heaven with Jesus. When we got there, I mentioned to him that we were going to talk to Pat and tell him we were praying for him, and we'd see Jeannie. Well, Liam stepped out of the car, looked at the funeral home and back up at me and remarked with wonder,
"Mom, is this heaven? Do we get to see Jeannie and Jesus too?"
Ummm. No. Not yet. But someday. :)
At first he was sad, because he was excited to eat the marshmallow...
and then I reminded him who the pure white marshmallow was a symbol of... and he gasped and said with a bit of awe... "he's gone. The tomb is empty! Jesus rose!" :)
The boys' favorite time of day... reading a devotion book (and any book really) with their Daddy!
Aiden will start pointing it out at the beginning of dinner, and gets more animated as soon as he sees Daddy finishing up his plate.

Showing how to right his name in "big" and "small" letters... :)
